Over four years ago, Divino Tianmu opened its doors in March 2020, during one of the most uncertain periods the restaurant industry had ever faced. As the COVID-19 pandemic began to take hold, Divino’s newest venture encountered unprecedented challenges right from the start. Despite these obstacles, Divino Tianmu has thrived and become a cherished part of the local Tianmu community, offering authentic Italian dining in a welcoming atmosphere.

Reflecting on those early days, Founder and Chef Enrico Negrini shares, "It was incredibly difficult to open during such a tough time. We were committed to serving our clients in the most hospitable and safe way possible, but the pandemic threw in challenges we never anticipated. Balancing safety with the warmth we’re known for tested our resilience every day.”

Elevating Dining Excellence at Divino Tianmu

Nestled in a serene alley in Tianmu, adjacent to the well-known Lutetia Café, Divino Tianmu is making waves with its recent transformation. Formerly Eddy’s Mexican Cantina, this reimagined space now stands as a testament to culinary evolution. With a significant renovation that resulted in a more spacious and refined setting, Divino Tianmu is committed to delivering a superior dining experience for the northern suburban area of Taipei.

Head Chef Amie emphasizes the restaurant’s commitment to excellence: “We’ve redefined Divino Tianmu to offer a sophisticated dining experience, focusing on quality and innovation. Our menu now features premium ingredients like fresh oysters and Wagyu steaks, complemented by techniques such as dry aging and slow-temperature cooking.”

The upgraded menu showcases handcrafted pastas, gourmet seafood, and carefully curated steaks, all prepared with high-level cooking techniques. The wine list has also undergone a major enhancement, expanding from a selection of well-known Italian regions to include over 60 labels from both celebrated producers like Gaja, Sassicaia, and Tignanello, as well as smaller, esteemed vintners.

Divino Tianmu is no longer just a casual family spot; it’s a premier destination for discerning diners seeking an exceptional Italian culinary experience in an elegant setting.

Hospitality with Heart

Divino Tianmu isn’t just about great food; it’s also known for the warmth and dedication of its staff. Led by front-of-house manager Wilson, the team fosters a welcoming environment that keeps guests coming back.

“Our goal is to make everyone feel at home, whether it's a weeknight dinner or a special occasion,” says Wilson. “We want every visit to feel personal and memorable.”

That level of care is one reason for Divino Tianmu’s loyal following. One regular who dines here at least once or twice a month, notes, “There’s a comfort in knowing that no matter when I come, the food is always incredible, and the staff goes above and beyond. It’s like visiting family.”

Another regular says she has some guilt that she never goes downtown anymore to visit the flagship Divino location, “but for me, this is my Divino,” she says. “It’s in my neighborhood and I love that the staff know me and my favorite orders my heart.”

The restaurant can fit approximately 30-40 people at one time and is currently only opened for dinner service on Wednesdays through Sundays (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). It can also be booked for private dining by larger groups by reaching out to the restaurant directly on their website (www.divinorestaurants.tw) or via email (reserve@divinorestaurants.tw).

Wine and Dine in Style

Divino Tianmu’s extensive wine list, featuring selections from Italy and beyond, is another draw for locals. The outdoor patio has become a neighborhood favorite for sharing wine with friends or family, making it an ideal spot for leisurely afternoons and evenings.

“When we first opened in 2020, we named this location ´Divino Enoteca,´ which means little wine store in Italian,“ says Enrico. “Although we eventually changed our store´s name to Divino Tianmu for clarity between our downtown location and this neighborhood one, it remains an Enoteca at heart for all who visit it. Wine is at the heart of Italian dining, and we hope that all customers consider adding a glass or a bottle to elevate their experience."

A Restaurant Built on Passion and Perseverance

Opening during the pandemic meant navigating closures, changing safety regulations, and supply chain disruptions. Yet despite these challenges, Divino Tianmu thrived.

“We’re so proud of what this restaurant has become,” says Enrico. “In a time of great uncertainty, it became a place of comfort and normalcy for our community—a place to gather, enjoy great food and wine, and make lasting memories. As a long-time member of the Tianmu community, I’m so proud to run a restaurant in my own home area, where I can dine with my own family on my days off and run into customers who turn into friends over time."

Divino Tianmu may have opened at the most challenging of times, but today it stands as a beacon of community, comfort, and authentic Italian cuisine. Whether you’re stopping by for a family meal, a glass of wine, or a special occasion, Divino Tianmu offers an unforgettable experience that truly feels like home.
